There is a thread at the Google AdSense Help forums have recent complaints about third-party sites drastically inflating their earnings reports, showing massive spikes in ad impressions on sites they do not control. This results in the RPM (revenue per impression) dropping and makes AdSense publisher freak that Google might think their site/ad placements are bad. Which might result in Google thinking their earnings per click should go lower because they generate low quality impressions for their ads. Here is a screen shot of one of the reports from a publisher showing fake data from boxofficemojo.com. That site has said they don't even serve ads with AdSense, so they can't remove anything. Some think there is this hack going around where this traffic is being spoofed to AdSense? One user wrote:I spoke a developer who has a lot of hacking knowledge. What he believes is happening is someone is using a script that is pinging the Adsense servers using various publisher IDs and spoofing these … [Read more...] about Google AdSense Spam Spoofing Impressions & Earnings Reports?
Remember a few weeks ago, those allegations of AdSense fraud leaked by a supposed former Google AdSense employee? I believed them to be fake and still do.Well, now a lawsuit seeks class action status was filed on Tuesday based on the allegations in the story we reported before. CNET reports:The suit relies in part on recent anonymous accusations that Google developed an AdSense fraud scheme in 2009 to prevent publishers from collecting money that Google owed them. AdSense is a major advertiser partner network for Google that accounts for about a quarter of Google's annual revenue. In 2013, Google earned $57.86 billion in revenue."Google's actions constitute breach of contract, breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, unjust enrichment, and violation of the California Unfair Competition Law," the filing with the US District Court for the Northern District of California states. The lawsuit is seeking class action status so that it can represent all US-based … [Read more...] about Google AdSense Class Action Lawsuit

The folks over at the WebmasterWorld forums are saying that Google AdSense is starting to roll out a new ad review center. The ad review center first launched back in 2008 as a way to allow publishers to better control which ads they do not want to show on their site. It has undergone several design tweaks over the years.Personally, I do not remember what it looked like before but this is what I see right now in the AdSense ad review center:NickMNS in the forums said "it seems that it is Google's roll-out new features day today." I am not sure if I personally have the new look but Nick said the layout is completely changed! Nick added:The ad units are now fully visible, so wide ads such as 724x90 ads are no longer cut-off, so that is good, they are easier to see without require a click. But the square ads are now smaller thus making the text harder to read, so not sure if this was great trade off. The block icon is now reduced to symbol and once you click on an ad they felt the … [Read more...] about Google AdSense Redesigns Ad Review Center?
