This is not to be confused with on-site SEO, which is the process of optimizing an entire website. However, these two types of optimization are not mutually exclusive. For example, an on-site optimization action like installing an SSL certificate is also a good on-page optimization action. It’s also important mention the difference between on-page SEO vs. off-page SEO. On-Page SEO vs. Off-Page SEO Off-page SEO is nothing more than another way to say link building. Over the last few years, the increasing shift towards digital marketing has led marketers to focus more on growth and results, rather than advertising reach or an over-emphasis on sales. That is why we invited Christoph Trappe, Chief Content Engagement Director at Stamats, to discuss how effective content marketing can jumpstart customer acquisition, user engagement and increase brand loyalty. Drawing from his extensive experience in Public Relations, Writing, Speaking, and running the Authentic Storytelling Project, Christoph, along with our other guests, discussed some sales-focused approaches to planning and executing a content strategy. Here is what they had to say: Q1. What are your top strategies for ideation in content marketing? Christoph is a storytelling advocate and says that "Stories happen around us all the time. Document them, write them up, and share them." Don’t stop there, though. Impactful SEO is rarely executed by a lone wolf. You need buy-in for resources. Often from someone higher up.Say, your CMO.Well speaking as a CMO, I’m sorry to tell you, that those detailed multi-page SEO documents where you lay out your objectives, target audiences, competitive landscapes, keyword research and that Gantt chart for the next six months of vaguely detailed optimization projects…I never read it in detail. And I never will. They don’t allow me to quickly sign off on a task or write a few line email to get you the resources you need. The fundamental problem with long SEO strategy documents is that as soon as you finish writing them, they’re out of date.Business objectives change. Competitive landscapes change. Algorithms change.SEO is executed in a constant state of flux. You need to be flexible on a monthly, if not weekly, basis.Focus on getting sh!t done. Not on writing long strategy docs. Why Agile SEO Strategies WorkAgile SEO involves incremental … [Read more...] about Agile SEO: Moving from Strategy to Action
The industry is rapidly moving from a keyword-focused approach to a topic-driven model. Google’s recent rebrand of its ad network, AdWords to Google Ads, provides a perfect example of this.In the SEO realm, we’ve seen this shift for a while, as search engines have slowly shifted to semantic search. A Backlinko study from two years ago confirmed this sentiment when its lead authors found little correlation between organic rank and the presence of a target keyword in the page title. This isn’t to say that keywords have lost their importance to SEO, but there are better ways to advance your content marketing campaign by focusing on a topic-driven approach. The problem with focusing solely on keyword planners and keyword optimization is that they vastly limit the scope of your information hierarchy and new content ideas.Indisputably, selecting the right keywords and topics are the most important step to reaching your target customers and providing them value. But by focusing … [Read more...] about How to Improve Your SEO with a Topic-Driven Content Marketing Approach
I was on Facebook a few weeks ago and a friend had written a post about how fantastic Purplebricks were when selling his house, and how his Purplebricks’ Local Property Expert was amazing. Referrals like this are pure gold for anybody, especially in an industry that’s worth roughly £11bn a year, with an annual growth for 2013-2018 forecasted at 4.4%. Estate Agent Today has tipped Purplebricks to be the biggest estate agent by 2019. With the sharp drop in share prices of Countrywide and Foxtons, it’s easy to think this is just the start of the decline in traditional agents. What is interesting, though, is that Purplebricks don’t appear when searching locally for ‘houses for sale in Leeds’, or when searching for houses in the other top 10 places to live in the UK. The Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs) are dominated by property portals such as Rightmove and Zoopla, with other property portals e.g. OnTheMarket.com also featuring on the … [Read more...] about Online estate agents: what do they know that traditional estate agencies don’t?
