Despite the many ways Google has changed the search game over the last five years, one truth remains: content is the vehicle that drives your consumer interactions, engagements, experiences and, ultimately, conversions. However, only 41 percent of marketers think their organization is clear on what an effective or successful content marketing program looks like, according to the Content Marketing Institute (CMI). Marketers aren’t just lacking confidence in their efforts; these are real and measurable deficits. In fact, only 20 percent of B2C and 50 percent of B2B content earns any engagement at all, my company’s research has found. That’s a lot of wasted effort and resources invested in content that ends up just floating around the web, winning zero business benefit for its creators. In this post, we’re going to take a look at content through the SMART lens. SMART is a goal-setting framework in which S stands for Specific, M for measurable, A for … [Read more...] about 14 ways to get smarter with your content and SEO
Content syndication seo
It hardly needs saying that content is important for SEO: a properly structured site with frequently updated, keyword-rich content is the best foundation for high search engine rankings. Quality content that is interesting or useful to users also has an excellent chance of receiving unsolicited links, further enhancing a website’s ability to rank well for relevant searches. To maximize these considerable benefits, SEOs should take an aggressive, hands-on approach to content creation and promotion. Being involved at every stage of a website’s content development cycle offers the best chance of supporting in-house optimization efforts. “Content” is, of course, a pretty broad label. While an SEO tends to think of content as text, a website’s content is the sum of everything that appears on its pages, from words to videos to buttons. Ultimately, non-textual elements such as images or audio files still form part of a website’s semantic universe and, if … [Read more...] about Leveraging In-House Content For SEO
I put together this post and findings as a result of my previous experiment about content syndication on LinkedIn, Medium, and your site. Here are those results. From link building and SEO to gifs and Instagram, I’ve had a blast writing for Search Engine Journal (SEJ) every month for the past six months. And, more than 20+ articles later, I’ve been looking for new ways to gain more engagement on my old articles. What began as a curious experiment has grown into an ongoing content marketing distribution strategy for myself and, hopefully, SEJ. In the beginning, I had a lot to learn about how to syndicate content on Medium and LinkedIn. It’s hard growing an audience. There is a lot of work involved. And, you have to have the right kind of content for each platform. The truth is, I still continue to learn new things about how to best repurpose my content — all of which I’m excited to share with you. In this post, I’m happy to share some of my … [Read more...] about How I Increased Pageviews by 34% with Content Syndication
Please note: there is a new, more up-to-date version of this article available here: What is content syndication and how do I get started? Content syndication is the process of pushing your blog, site, or video content out into third-party sites, either as a full article, snippet, link, or thumbnail. The idea is to drive more engagement with your content by wiring it into related digital contexts, either to boost traffic to your owned property or just get exposure for your brand or your key personalities or products. In a perfect world, syndication is part of a larger, holistic content marketing effort with the old keywords-at-the-front, metrics-at-the-back content production line in place. But even if you don’t have a formal content marketing effort, you probably have content – web pages, blog posts, videos – that could be syndicated. Setting up Your Syndication Strategy For some brands, it isn’t always clear what they want to accomplish from syndication. Is … [Read more...] about Content Syndication: How to Get Started
Here we’ll take a look at the practice of content syndication and answer a few questions… What is it? How do I get started? How do I find content syndication platforms? Is it helpful for SEO? Please note, this is a new version of our previously published guide to content syndication published in 2013, written by Andrew Delamarter. All the information has been revised and updated. What is content syndication? Content syndication is the process of pushing your blogpost, article, video or any piece of web-based content out to other third-parties who will then republish it on their own sites. Why would I use content syndication? Content syndication is particularly useful if you’re a smaller publisher or an up-and-coming writer who wants a larger audience from a more authoritative site. By having your blog content published on The Guardian (for instance) you will be exposed to a much wider audience that isn’t your own, who may then visit you on your own blog.
