Of the top 10 most popular video ads on YouTube last month, four of them belonged to Supercell’s “Clash of Clans” video game, including the No. 1 spot, which was the first-ever 360-degree video to break into the top 10. With “Clash of Clans” ads taking the No. 1, No. 2, No. 5 and No. 6 spots, and “Boom Beach’s” “Dr. T” ad ranking No. 9, Supercell owned half of the list — a mighty achievement for the video gaming company, whose spots featured Oscar winner Christoph Waltz. The top 10 YouTube ads in May earned a total 115M views, 87M belonged to Clash of Clans
"Clash of Clans" blew away the competition on YouTube's ad leaderboard last month. The video game's "How do we get over there?" spot owned 87.7 million of the combined 115.1 million views generated by the top 10 ads. Easily winning the No. 1 spot, "Clash of Clans" far outperformed brands like Heineken, Apple and Microsoft - all of which earned less than 7 million views. At No. 2, Heineken earned 6.5 million views, and Apple's iPhone 7 Plus spot ranked No. 3 with 4.2 million views. Disney helped Lego make its debut appearance on YouTube's ad leaderboard with the "Moana as told by Lego" mini-movie ranking No. 9. Don’t you just love those map graphics that show what people call “soda” in every state? Or what the favorite local beer is? I do! That’s why I decided to create one for search. Behold: The top trending searches in every U.S. state from the past 12 months: Top Trending Searches: Methodology To determine the top trending searches, I used Google Trends data from the last 12 months (February 2014 to February 2015). In Google Trends, you can drill down to the state level and see both overall trends as well as rising trends (indicating a recent spike in search volume). For this graphic, I used the rising trends data. I also threw out the most common rising search terms that were common across all 50 states in the past 12 months.
