I am not 100% sure if this is new, it looks super familiar but I don't think I've covered this where Google is showing in their local pack for hotel results refinement boxes at the top. These refinements aim at letting the searcher get better information if they click it. This is Google saying, I think you are asking X but you may be asking Y. The screen shot was from Cindy Krum on Twitter:Again, I think I've seen this before, but I don't think I've covered this before.Either way, it is worth documenting here.Forum discussion at Twitter.Yea, I knew this wasn't 100% new. yeah, the desktop "see results about" feature is not new. — Sergey Alakov (@sergey_alakov) May 17, 2018 … [Read more...] about Google Local Hotel Pack Showing Search Refinement Option

Google Adds Similar Hotels Carousel To Local Panel
Brad Brewer who follows Google's hotel search results really closely spotted Google now showing a "similar hotels" carousel in the local knowledge panel of a hotel result in Google Maps. Personally, I cannot currently replicate it but Brad posted this screen shot:There is nothing like going to Google, looking up a specific hotel and then being given alternatives that lead you to book somewhere else. I do not see this, I do see the "people also search" for section but not the "similar hotels" carousel.Forum discussion at Twitter. … [Read more...] about Google Adds Similar Hotels Carousel To Local Panel
Google Tests Hotel Search Filters Using Highlight Icons
As you know, Google has been using these hotel highlight icons to display hotel amenities in a more graphical manner. Well now Google is testing using these icons in the hotel search filters, to let searchers click on them to filter out hotel options in their searches.Pete Meyers from Moz posted on Twitter a screen shot of this happening:The "top choices," "guest favorites," "budget options," and more are all part of those highlight icons Google uses in hotel search.I am not sure I like this user interface for filtering your hotel search options, it just doesn't seem the most efficient manner.Forum discussion at Twitter. … [Read more...] about Google Tests Hotel Search Filters Using Highlight Icons
Google Search Tests Hotel Prices By Day Chart
Masaki Okazawa from Merkle posted on Twitter a test Google is trying in search to show hotel prices for a specific hotel over a specific date range directly in the search results. It looks like a bar chart that shows prices for the hotel from today going through the next month, with the average price listed on the left. Here is a screen shot from Masaki:I assume when you click on it, it takes you into the Google Hotel search features. This lets you search fairs by multiple booking web sites and change your dates, and much more.Forum discussion at Twitter. … [Read more...] about Google Search Tests Hotel Prices By Day Chart
Google Tests New Location Tab & Scores For Hotel Listings
As I reported on at Search Engine Land based on Sergey Alakov spotting another test, Google is testing a new location tab that not only shows you location specific information around a hotel listing but also scores the location based on factors such as proximity to top sights, transit and airport access.Google says the location score they assign to hotels are "calculated based on data from Google Maps." Here is a screen shot showing off the location score:In addition, the location tab has a section for "highlights," "top sights," and "getting around." Each show very relevant information for those trying to pick a hotel that is near cool things to see for pleasure or work. Here are those screen shots:I cannot replicate this at all and I tired numerous ways.Forum discussion at Twitter. … [Read more...] about Google Tests New Location Tab & Scores For Hotel Listings
