Too Late For Thanksgiving & Too Early For Diwali

Several times in the last few weeks I’ve been asked to provide tips for the holiday season and I’ve responded pretty much in the same way each time: “You’ve already missed Diwali,” or “too late for Yom Kippur.” I decided it was time I replaced my flippant British irony meaning, “Are you kidding? In the global world we have a festival every week?” with something a little more meaningful and helpful to others. By the way, what the heck is “Thanksgiving” anyway? And what you are Americans saying thank you for? Wikipedia provides the answer and I see that its really what we Brits would call a “harvest festival”—something which would most typically involve going to church in the early autumn (that’s “fall” your side of the Atlantic) and doesn’t involve huge meals or family celebrations in the same way the Americans do it. Those Special Google Logos, Sliced & Diced, Over The Years

I’ve been working on a project to classify all the special logos that Google has done over the years. Crazy? Perhaps a bit, but it’s interesting to see what Google has honored with special logos and the great increase in them recently. Besides, I like to organize things. Below, how Google’s special logos have evolved, including tips on which occupation to pursue if you hope to have your birthday immortalized by Google. My project’s not done yet, but I presented some early findings at Ignite: SMX West in March. For those unfamiliar with Ignite, you have 5 minutes to present 20 slides on a particular topic.
