According to new numbers from a global search survey conducted by comScore, Google is the most popular search engine in the world. In fact, Google handles roughly 60% of world wide search. (37 billion) That number is even higher than the 50% of searches it handles here in the United States. The study looked at global numbers for other engines as well and listed Yahoo (8.5 billion), Baidu (3.3 billion), Microsoft (2.2 billion) and NHN (2 billion) as rounding out the top five. No question. Google remains the most used search engine in the world, far outdistancing competitors. But, over the past three months, its share of unique searchers had dipped below 80%, suggesting it has lost some regular searchers. Still, the huge percentage remaining at Google are searching more than ever. Meanwhile, has Yandex really taken the number four spot from Bing? comScore’s Worldwide Search Figures The figures come from comScore. They weren’t released publicly, but after they emerged on GigaOm, comScore has been providing them to other publications upon request. Most attention has been focused on Yandex passing Microsoft to take over the fourth place spot as the world’s most popular search engine, based on searches conducted. In the latest parody site to spoof the most popular search engine on the Web, the folks behind "Gizoogle" are attempting to give a Snoop Dogg spin to the Web. (Warning: Translations do feature adult language) The site works as a near carbon copy to the Google Web site, the exception being the "translation" feature that rewrite SERP's and cached pages into the gangsta rappin' language of popular rap star Snoop Dogg.
