Hey guys, So I’ve decided to permanently shut down our link building services and all other services which include the blogger outreach service, citation building service, curated links service, SEO audit service, and 1-on-1 SEO consulting. Now the question is: Why am I closing a division of my business that’s been growing consistently for 3 years? There are a few reasons: 1. We are dedicating 100% of Gotch SEO’s energy and focus on Gotch SEO Academy In 2017, I shut down all of my client SEO contracts despite the fact that I was making over $60,000/mo doing client SEO. I was willing to make less money for a short period of time because I knew that teaching is what I truly love doing and it’s best way I can serve people. But the truth is… Even in 2018, I was still one foot in and one foot … [Read more...] about We’re Shutting Down Our Link Building Services

Moving Away from SEO Link Building
My last two Link Week columns have touched on communication between link builder and client. In Link Development Realities Versus What We Tell Our Clients I discussed how, as strategists and link builders, part of what we do involves a degree of selection of tactic, and what to do when confronted with clients who are using tactics and investing budgets for link building services that have no value, but the client doesn’t know it. Then in What If It Isn’t Linkworthy?, I focused on the uncomfortable client scenario where a client has worked hard to create content they feel is linkworthy, but you, as the person who has to go get those links, don’t agree. What Is Link-Building, and Why Does It Matter in 2015?
I’ve spent the last three years of my life professionally obsessed with links. My agency’s primary specialization is link-building, but it’s often impossible to build links if the site itself isn’t well optimized, and furthermore less likely to have the desired impact. Link-building is the majority of what we do, but we have to do everything in between in order to really make the link-building shine. My day-to-day job is 100 percent content marketing, but I work for a link-building agency. I very much have a foot in both worlds, which I’d like to think gives me a unique perspective. Today, I want to share with you my perspective on link-building and why I think links will continue to matter for real businesses in 2015. The Evolution of Link-Building and My Definition Despite having the job title of “link builder” for longer than a year, explaining the term “link-building” is surprisingly hard. I’ve had to do it for friends, … [Read more...] about What Is Link-Building, and Why Does It Matter in 2015?
