If you’re a marketing manager of a post-secondary education institution (or a PPC agency working on its behalf), then you already know that universities, colleges and similar organizations present specific challenges (and opportunities) for online advertisers. Over the years, my advertising agency has had the pleasure of working with a number of these institutions, and we’ve learned (sometimes the hard way!) some important lessons. Here are a few dos and don’ts of running PPC advertising for the education vertical market: 1. Do advertise year-round At most universities and colleges, admission activity peaks and falls at predictable times of the year. Accordingly, most educational institutions bump up their online advertising when application deadlines grow near. And that makes sense. But that doesn’t mean you should shutter your advertising during less busy periods, for several reasons: Lead time. 15 Colleges That Offer Digital Marketing Classes
Can you believe there was a time when a business believed that having digital media/marketing knowledge and skills was nice, but not necessary? How the times have quickly changed. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the amount of market research analysts and marketing specialists is expected to increase 32% from 2012-2022 – which is faster than the national average of 11% for all occupations. While that sound promising for anyone pursuing a career in digital marketing, the education required for these skills seems to be lacking. This isn’t exactly a new development. Currently, there are 770 Barnes & Noble College campus stores across the country, from the largest location at Harvard University to the more than 200 community college locations. “Leonard Riggio, the founder of Barnes & Noble, actually started with an off-campus bookstore across from NYU in New York City because his passion was to serve students, and he felt students deserved more than the experience they were getting at their school at the time, and that he could do it better,” says Malat. “The heart and soul of … [Read more...] about How Barnes & Noble College builds its marketing around Gen Z & Millennial needs
