What they meant by that was to not have the same domain appearing countless times for one search. Several years ago if you searched “Cheap Flights” for example you’d get 100s of results from cheapflights.co.uk – so Google shook it up. And now they are trying again. Google said “A new change now launching in Google Search is designed to provide more site diversity in our results.” Google added, “This site diversity change means that you usually won’t see more than two listings from the same site in our top results.” Apart from the fact they claim this diversification is happening, my colleague Jon has noticed they have actually made it worse. Fred Google Update March 8th – Unconfirmed “Fred Update” shakes the SEO world in the words of Barry Schwartz from SEO Roundtable. Whilst Google rolls out an estimated 600 updates annually, the Fred Update (a name which was jokingly suggested by Google’s Gary Illyes and seemingly adopted by the SEO community) is reportedly targeted towards spam links. The chatter and reports are Black Hat SEO communities certainly support this theory with similar sites taking big hits in organic rankings. I know, Google updates every day, but I promise, I try to limit my coverage of these Google search ranking updates to those that drive a lot of chatter within the community and show additional signs of evidence around a ranking update. And today I am seeing signs again of a Google update, which makes the past several weeks jammed pack with algorithm tweaks and updates.As you know, I just reported one on October 4th then one on September 27th, the 19th, 11th, 6th, and then on August 22nd. Friday we reported about a possible Google update, which is unconfirmed, but where a nice amount of the search community noticed some ranking changes and traffic changes. It seems like maybe yesterday there were some reversals or tweaks to whatever happened on November 15th.The Black Hat World thread has the most chatter of the recent tweaks with the mid-November update. Here are some of those comments:Rankings have just gone back to what they were before these updates again.
