Notice I didn’t say “authority pages” or “high PageRank pages” but “relevant pages”. Why? Because your demographic doesn’t always hang out on high authority or high PageRank pages. People push content, not pages so it’s important to find sites where large numbers of “your people” visit and work hard to get links from those pages. The key is finding those relevant pages. Here’s where this cool tool called The Social Technology Profile Tool from Groundswell can help. Using profiles from the popular Groundswell book by Charlene Li and Josh Bernoff, this tool creates an outline and classifies people according to how they use social … [Read more...] about Cool New Link Tools And… SEO Discounts!

A vocal contingent of search engine optimizers is up in arms today, saying Google is “offering SEO consulting services.” There are posts on Sphinn here and here, not to mention plenty of related tweets. Only thing is, Google isn’t doing anything they haven’t done for years and to say the company is “offering SEO services” seems like a real stretch of the imagination. As mobile usage increases and companies develop mobile-friendly sites to ensure the optimal user experience, developers are working hard to make the mobile web as efficient and useful as possible. Last year, developers at Google created Progressive Web Apps, an interactive experience that has features of both a website and a mobile app. During a session at Google I/O 2016, Alex Russell, a software engineer at Google leading the project, stated that Progressive Web Apps “blur the line between Web content and apps, but they keep the strengths of the Web.” Essentially, Progressive Web Apps allow for app-like user experience on a mobile browser. Users can interact with mobile web pages that have the look, feel and functionality of an app — including push notifications, offline accessibility, and the ability to add a shortcut to your device’s home screen — without having to visit an app store. And they don’t just work with Chrome, as other browsers are … [Read more...] about the mobile experience and SEO
