An Interview with Jill Whalen Prior to working on the web, what did you do for a living? Before I had my first child, I was a department coordinator at Prime Computer. Mostly I did Word Processing and that sort of thing. I stopped working outside the home in 1987, right before my oldest daughter, Corie, was born. From 1987 to about 1994, I was your basic mom-at-home, which is what I always wanted to be when I "grew up!" When did you first begin working out of your home and what did you do? During some of the years when I was *just* a mom-at-home, I babysat a few neighborhood kids during the day in order to make a few extra bucks. So that would be my first experience with working at home. I also tried selling Discovery Toys for a few months, but that really wasn't for me as I'm not a very good salesperson. Getting the toys for my kids was fun, but I never made any money at it. I have to say that I never really set out to make any real money at home. My husband and I waited to have … [Read more...] about Work at Home Mom Is Acclaimed Search Engine Optimization Expert

The simplest things are often the most difficult. How hard should it be to come up with a single content idea? Considering it’s a few words, you’d think it would only take a few seconds. You and I both know that there’s a lot more that goes into solidifying a good content idea than the first few words that come to mind. As content marketing becomes more popular and properly utilized, marketers will be producing more and more content. Currently, 91% of B2B marketers have started using content marketing. In addition, 77% of marketers plan to increase their content production over the next year. A single good idea every now and again is not enough—you need several. And if you’re working efficiently (in batches), you should be coming up with at least 50 at a time, but then writing about only the best ones. When you start a new content marketing campaign, ideas are relatively free flowing. You can write about just about anything in your niche. But once those … [Read more...] about 7 Ways to Find Better Content Ideas
You aren’t going to make it without visuals. This is a fact that everyone should know at this point. Marketing comes down to a fundamental goal: connecting with your audience. Humans are visual creatures, which is why clear back through history you can see examples of advertisements containing drawn images, posted on walls through busy towns. We aren’t much different today. A solid picture, a good color scheme, a snappy theme, an eye-catching video…these are all fundamentals in marketing through visuals. We incorporate it into every facet of the process, to reach that ultimate goal. Influencer marketing might seem like it is far and away from the visual marketing process. You have the same general goal (in this case you are reaching a very specific audience), but the process has to be different. Doesn’t it? Actually, no. Visual marketing is just as helpful in reaching influencers as it is in reaching a more general viewership. In fact, it might just be what you … [Read more...] about Boost Influencer Outreach With Visual Marketing
